Military-themed tactical strategy game
Armored Brigade II is a premium simulation PC title by developer Veitikka Studios. It is a sequel to a popular real-time strategy game featuring military themes and takes place during the Cold War. Players will get to take part in and experience tactical campaigns inspired by real-life war conflicts.
The biggest change from the original Armored Brigade game is the switch of perspectives, from a 2D top-down view to a more immersive and detailed 3D isometric viewpoint. Armored Brigade II also offers more intricate large-scale maps with all kinds of unique events that players can experience moment-to-moment.
Cold conflict
The first Armored Brigade game garnered notoriety for its real-time tactical warfare and realism. It offers a playground for war game fans to engage in battles across vast maps and deploy a wide array of units and artillery at their disposal. In comes Armored Brigade II, its long-awaited sequel that brings about a complete visual overhaul for a more immersive experience.
In this sequel, you will experience simulated battles based on the arms combat of the Cold War era, which covers linear and dynamic campaigns from 1965 to 1991. Choose from large-scale terrain set in various locations across Europe that can support multiple battalions at any given time throughout the entire map. Employ historically accurate weapons and vehicles, and deploy units with reworked infantry behavior.
There's also the Skirmish Generation System that lets you create custom battles as you like with access to the same large database of units for a unique experience. However, its focus on realism and sheer content comes at the cost of complexity and a steep learning curve. Newcomers to the series will need to put in the effort to familiarize themselves with everything.
An impressive sequel
All in all, Armored Brigade II is an impressive follow-up that brings improvements across the board and the series has not looked better since the first game was released years ago. It will be a treat for returning fans but newcomers will have to learn and figure things out first. That said, the effort will be worth the expansive experience they will get in return.
